With a clean slate, 539 8th Street SE welcomes Lavagna Ristorante Italiano, tentatively opening on July 12th. Lavagna is a city located in the Genoa province of Northern Italy, where the hills are renowned for slate production. Lavagna is also Italian for "chalkboard." Executive Chef Lance and Owner Stephen Cheung created a menu portraying their idea of what food should be: "It should be just like a chalkboard - simple, fresh, and innovated often." Lavagna's chalkboard menu will focus on easily recognizable Italian cuisine, and options will include fresh pastas made in-house daily. Renovations to the main dining room reflect Lance and Stephen's belief that Italian cuisine is best enjoyed in a family friendly environment. The bar has been redesigned and relocated to the second floor, abutting a lovely dining room.
